ABOUT CIRCLE CITY ORCHESTRA
Circle City Orchestra (CCO) is a community-driven ensemble based in Indianapolis, bringing
together dedicated amateur musicians and trained music majors who continue performing
alongside their professional careers.
Now entering its 6th season, CCO continues to grow as an accessible and inclusive arts
organization committed to meaningful performance experiences and expanding access to the
arts across Indiana.
THE ROLE
CCO is seeking a collaborative and inspiring Conductor & Artistic Director to serve as the artistic
leader of the orchestra. This is a community-facing role that balances musical leadership with
inclusivity, engagement, and close partnership with the Board.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct all rehearsals and performances
• Develop engaging and accessible concert programs
• Lead weekly rehearsals (Wednesday evenings at the Athenaeum in downtown
Indianapolis)
• Collaborate with the Board and attend monthly board meetings
• Serve as a community ambassador for CCO
• Foster an inclusive and supportive ensemble culture
• Articulate the artistic vision to donors, support grant proposals, and collaborate on
fundraising events
IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Experience conducting orchestras or ensembles
• Communicates clearly and connects with musicians of varying experience levels
• Values collaboration and community-based music-making
• Passionate about accessibility and growing the arts
TIME COMMITMENT
• Weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals
• Concert performances throughout the season
• Monthly board meetings
• Community engagement opportunities as available
COMPENSATION
A stipend of at least $3,000 will be provided. Additional compensation may be available based
on qualifications, experience, and organizational resources.
