JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The mission of Evansville Christian School is to empower students to embrace a Biblical worldview through spiritual and academic growth, servant leadership, and authentic relationships in the name of Jesus Christ.

 

Reports To: High School Principal

 

Directly Supervises: Student Teachers (when available)

 

Narrative Description: Evansville Christian School is a community that values growth, service and relationships. As a Christian educator, it is important to teach, model, and implement effective study and discipline skills. Our staff must have a heart for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and must encourage spiritual growth through biblical application and integration, all in support of the school’s mission, vision, and philosophy. For this particular position, the goal is to lead and develop an instrumental band program that provides instruction in instrumental music for 5th-12th grade students as assigned each year, to develop an appreciation for music in the students, and to provide a music foundation for students in daily living and worship.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide Beginning Band instruction in 5th grade.
  • Provide Intermediate Band instruction in 6th and 7th grade.
  • Provide Advanced Band instruction in combined 8th-12th grade.
  • Plan and evaluate instruction using differentiated instruction and assessment in accordance with Indiana Academic Content Standards for instrumental music, integrated with biblical principles.
  • Plan, prepare, and direct students for participation in events that could include school musical productions, jazz band, pep band, and/or other performance related activities.
  • Assist students in preparation for ISSMA contests by selecting appropriate music, helping them learn the music, and coaching them in their preparation.
  • Guide and direct performance groups to serve and perform in the community.
  • Provide for individual instruction in areas of difficulty.
  • Take responsibility for classroom appearance and other designated areas.
  • Model spiritual discipline through prayer, Bible study, and Christ-like character and provide opportunity and accountability for students to develop spiritual growth.
  • Supervise students to provide an overall environment of safety within all areas of the school, including field trips and after school events.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and initiative in planning and delivering instruction, completing all duty assignments, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating accountability to grade level teaching team.
  • Record online grades and provide feedback to parents in a timely manner to provide ongoing communication to students and parents.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning for all students.
  • Collaborate with parents, educational professionals from local school corporations, parent volunteers, and school-based education intervention teams to provide optimum learning resources for students.
  • Work effectively with grade level team members, with other grade level teams, and with the school faculty and staff to implement the mission of ECS.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Maintain a valid Indiana state teaching license, completing all educational and biblical requirements to teach in the assigned area.
  • Provide evidence of programmatic and developmental leadership in the assigned area.
