Vocal Music Accompanist/Music Classroom Paraprofessional - DCHS

Responsibilities:

Accompanying choir rehearsals and performances throughout the school year, both on and away from campus

Rehearsing with and accompanying soloists and small ensembles

Leading sectional rehearsals

Assisting with student supervision during rehearsals and performances

Filling in as substitute teacher on absence of the director

Arranging regular piano maintenance

Other tasks including grading, filing, recordkeeping, copying, etc.

Evening and some Saturday availability is required

Skills:

Strong sight-reading skills, including open-score reading

Ability to comfortably play in various genres

Proficiency with scales in all keys

Playing from chord charts recommended

Improvisation recommended

Transposition at sight recommended

Proficient use of synthesizer recommended

Education:

High school diploma (or equivalent) & passing score on the ParaPro Assessment or

Completion of 60 hours college coursework in music and/or education (recommended)
