Intermediate General Music Teacher

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic music educator to lead 5th-grade general music classes and assist with 6th-grade beginning band. This position requires an engaging individual with a passion for fostering musical growth and excitement in young students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumental and vocal music, a team-oriented mindset, and a commitment to collaboration with both middle and high school directors to support the development of a comprehensive instrumental and vocal music program.

 

Key Responsibilities:

● Teach 5th-grade general music, providing students with foundational skills in music literacy, rhythm, and appreciation.

● Assist with 6th-grade beginning band, offering instruction in fundamental band techniques and music literacy.

● Collaborate with middle and high school band and choir directors to ensure a smooth transition for students progressing through the music program.

● Incorporate Orff, guitar, and/or ukulele techniques to enhance student engagement and participation.

● Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel encouraged and inspired to explore their musical potential.

● Plan and execute school performances, concerts, and events in collaboration with fellow educators and directors.

● Adapt lessons to meet the varied needs of students, maintaining a patient, supportive, and motivating classroom presence.

● Actively participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in music education.

Qualifications & Requirements:

● Valid Indiana Fine Arts teaching license for Vocal and General Music (Grades 6-8).

● Experience and knowledge in teaching vocal music, choir, and general music.

● At least two years of teaching experience (preferred).

● Ability to deliver high-quality instruction in a blended learning environment.

● Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues.

● Effective organizational and planning abilities.

● Proficiency in technology integration to enhance student learning.

● Commitment to working as a team player, ensuring vertical alignment in the instrumental and vocal music programs.

● Enthusiastic, patient, and passionate about music education, inspiring young students to develop a love for music.
